Luminescent

In the southern area of Sayoria that borders the Yorian district, there is an over-growing forest of rare bio-luminescent plants and fungi. This includes a species of tree called Rhinesmor Trees. A beautiful spectacle at night, the entire forest becomes an incandescent light show. Contained in the grain of the trees and spots on the leaves and stem of the plants is a light-emitting chemical reaction that gives off a bright electric blue color. Because of the strong reaction specifically in the trees little flecks of bark tend to flutter off still alight by the reaction. Because of the constant shedding of the Rhinesmor tree, the forest floor is padded with a fine powder that was once the tree's bark which makes life inhabitable for small animals. Powder from the forest is often blown by the wind which creates many of the Yorian district's infamous electric dust storms. Although the chemical reaction has long since ceased, occasionally the static electricity created by the dust storm allows the chemical reaction to start once again which creates a radiantly bright flash during the storm.
However there is a dark side to the forest. Every night of the full moon the trees release clouds of pollen. The pollen contains a chemical similar to cocaine that when inhaled it acts in a way any narcotic would. It immediately effects the brain and gives any organism extreme pleasure. However, at the same time it makes the organism wildly aggressive. Frighteningly murderous. The effects are so strong that there are absolutely no animals present in the forest. Once and animal inhales the pollen of the Rhinesmor tree it will violently attack or kill any other thing, living or not. This often includes self-harm.
This chemical was long sought after by the Castlereigh Corporation for use in biological warfare and possibly soldier-enhancement. However, the project was abandoned due to many casualties and inhumanity.

This image you see DOES happen in-story, however this scene will probably not be in Crow and cat. It will show up in my future comic, Futile Weaponry. I thought it wouldn't be appropriate for Crow and Cat because of how dark it was. But who knows, it involves Felix too so i guess it might happen in Crow and Cat. KEEP READING TO FIND OUT I GUESS.

Oh and, Zuzu's middle name IS named after this tree because his mother thought that Zuzu's eyes were the color of the electric dust storm.
